New Delhi: Renowned novelist and playwright Prof. Omchery N N Pillai has received the Sahitya Akademy Award-2021. The award is for his memoir ‘Akasmik.’( ‘ആകസ്മികം’) . He was earlier awarded with Kerala Sahitya Akademy Award and also honoured for his overall contribution in literature.  He is a writer who has made great contributions to Malayalam literature and the modern Malayalam theatre movement. He is the author of more than a dozen works, including poetry, prose and drama.

( ന്യൂഡൽഹി: പ്രമുഖ സാഹിത്യകാരൻ പ്രൊഫ.ഓംചേരി എൻ.എൻ.പിളളയ്ക്ക് കേന്ദ്ര സാഹിത്യ അക്കാദമി പുരസ്കാരം. ഓര്‍മ്മക്കുറിപ്പുകളായ ‘ആകസ്മികം’ എന്ന കൃതിക്കാണ് പുരസ്‌കാരം. ഒരു ലക്ഷം രൂപയും മംഗള പത്രവും ഫലകവും അടങ്ങുന്നതാണ് പുരസ്കാരം.

1972 ൽ ‘പ്രളയം’ എന്ന നാടകത്തിന് കേരള സാഹിത്യ അക്കാദമി പുരസ്കാരവും 2010 ൽ സമഗ്ര സംഭാവനയ്ക്കുള്ള സാഹിത്യ അക്കാദമി പുരസ്കാരവും ലഭിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. കവിതയും ഗദ്യസാഹിത്യവും നാടകവുമുള്‍പ്പടെ നിരവധി കൃതികളുടെ കര്‍ത്താവാണ് ഓംചേരി. )
