Chennai: Extreme security order issued along Tamil Nadu coast. The intelligence agencies received information that the boat with weapons had returned to the Rameshwaram coast from Sri Lanka. Based on this, the Coast Guard also intensified surveillance. Tamil Nadu police said the information was passed on to Kerala.

Armed security forces have been deployed along the coasts of Kanyakumari, Thoothukudi, Rameshwaram and Chennai. The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) has received information that some boats from Sri Lanka have returned to the Rameshwaram coast with weapons. Based on this, security has been strengthened.


A senior police officer at the state police headquarters in Chennai told IANS: "Yes there is an alert but I can't reveal more than this at present. We have deployed armed policemen across all the main roads leading to coastal areas through the state."
