Jammu and Kashmir : Two explosions were heard in a difference of 5 minutes at Jammu airport's technical area in the early hours of Sunday. Reports suggest that the explosion took place around 1:45 am on Sunday. The forensic team and bomb disposal squad reached the spot where the blast took place. The Jammu airport runway and the Air Traffic Control are under the IAF control, and are also used to operate passenger flights. The area has been sealed by security forces. There were no immediate reports of casualties.

Indian Air Force Tweeted  that  "Two low-intensity explosions were reported early Sunday morning in the technical area of Jammu Air Force Station. One caused minor damage to the roof of a building while the other exploded in an open area. There was no damage to any equipment. Probe on"




According to sources, two drones were used to carry out the explosions near the Jammu air base. Two Air Force officers have been injured and an investigation is going on regarding the motive and person behind the blasts.

The Indian Air Force (IAF) is investigating what could be the first ever drone attack on any Indian military facility after two explosions at the Jammu Air Force station in the early hours of Sunday.
Two IAF personnel suffered minor injuries in the blasts that took place a little before 2 AM, within five minutes of each other.

National Bomb Data Centre experts, forensic teams and the Jammu and Kashmir police rushed to the high security airport after the explosions. One of the blasts caused damage to the roof of a building in the technical section while another bomb exploded in an open area.

Reports say the explosions, the first at 1.37 AM and the second at 1.43 AM, were heard a km away.

Top military sources say this is being treated as a serious incident. A National Investigation Agency team is also at the airport, which is around 16 km from the border with Pakistan.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh spoke to Air Force Vice Chief Air Marshal HS Arora and Air Marshal Vikram Singh will be at Jammu for investigations, said ministry officials.

The Jammu airport in the city's Satwari area is a dual use facility are under the IAF control and is also used to operate passenger flights.
