The property cell of the Mumbai Crime Branch arrested Raj Kundra, a renowned businessman and husband of Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty. Kundra in connection with the case of a pornography racket busted by Mumbai police in February. The police have arrested a total of nine accused in this case, officials said.

The case
involving creation of pornographic films and publishing them through some apps was registered with the Mumbai Crime Branch in February this year. "There was a case registered with the Crime Branch Mumbai in Feb 2021 about creation of pornographic films and publishing them through some Apps. We've arrested Mr Raj Kundra in this case on 19/7/21 as he appears to be the key conspirator of this. We have sufficient evidences regarding this," the Mumbai Police Commissioner Hemant Nagrale said in a statement.
     Shilpa Shetty married Raj Kundra in 2009 and they welcomed their first child, son Viaan Raj Kundra, in 2012. The couple welcomed their second child - a daughter named Samisha via surrogacy, last year. Raj Kundra - the owner of an app called JL Stream -- was part owner of Indian Premier League cricket team Rajasthan Royals.
In 2013, he was questioned by the Delhi Police in connection with the betting and spot-fixing scandal that engulfed Indian cricket.

Booked for cheating and obscene content
According to a news portal, Raj Kundra has been booked under sections 420 (cheating), 34 (common intention), 292 and 293 (related to obscene and indecent advertisements and displays) of IPC besides other sections of the IT act and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act.
Post arrest
Soon after his arrest, Raj Kundra was taken for medical examination at JJ hospital by the Property Cell of Mumbai Police's Crime Branch. He was later taken to Mumbai Police Commissioner's office and spent the night in the custody of the Crime Branch, Mumbai. Raj Kundra will be produced before the in the CMM Court, also known as Killa Court in the second half of Tuesday.
Gehana Vasisth’s involvement
Raj Kundra has been arrested alleged in a pornography case that is being probed since earlier this year, and wherein nine people, including model and actor Gehana Vasisth, were arrested. According to a report on TOI, Raj Kundra’s name in the probe surfaced after the property cell found the involvement of a UK production company, Kenrin, and police arrested its executive, Umesh Kamat. He was a former employee of Raj Kundra and reportedly accused of uploading at least eight "pornographic and obscene" videos shot by Gehna Vasisth on a social media app. According to TOI, the police suspect Raj Kundra has a stake in Kenrin. In a statement Mumbai police commissioner Hemant Nagrale had revealed, “Ra Kundra appears to be the key conspirator of this.”
Further probe
As part of the ongoing investigation, yet another arrest has been made in this cast. On Tuesday morning, the Mumbai Police Crime Branch arrested one Ryan Tharp from the Nerul area, in the probe connected to the production of Pornography.
