Boulders roll downhill due to landslide in Himachal Pradesh Kinnaur district resulting in bridge collapse; vehicles damaged, Nine Killed, Several Injured

Shimla: At least nine tourists were killed and three injured after boulders rolled downhill in Kinnaur district following a landslide, resulting in a bridge collapse. Rescue operations are underway. The incident was caught on camera where large chunks of rocks could be seen rolling down into the valley below. Teams of ITBP have been pressed into service to conduct the relief and rescue opeartions .

Prime Minister Narendra Modi Sunday expressed condolences over the death of people due to landslides in Himachal Pradesh’s Kinnaur and said all arrangements are being made for the treatment of those injured.

It is a very painful incident, Modi said and also announced an ex gratia of Rs 2 lakh each for the next of the kin of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to the injured from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund.
