J&K BJP leader Gulam Rasool Dar & his wife shot dead by terrorists in Kashmir

By - Siju Kuriyedam Sreekumar -- Monday, August 09, 2021 , 11:55 PM
A BJP leader and his wife were killed in a terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district on August 9. Terrorists fired bullets at BJP’s Gulam Rasool Dar & his wife in Lal Chowk area. Gulam Rasool Dar was BJP’s Kisan Morcha president of Kulgam. Dar was also Sarpanch and BJP’s district president of Anantnag. The couple was rushed to hospital but they succumbed to injuries. Lashkar e Taiba was behind the killing of BJP Sarpanch, as per police. As per reports, the terrorists barged into the house of the BJP Sarpanch. Police confirmed that the incident took place at around 4 pm.

The Resistance Front (TRF) has taken the responsibility for the attack. In a statement, the TRF said the cadre of Gazelle squad (TRF) carried out their operation. “They were among those traitors who celebrated 5 August recently and were staying put to attend 15th August occupiers function," the statement read, adding “whosoever is involved in the anti-resistance activity and sells the sacrifices of resistance lovers won’t be spared".

BJP Jammu and Kashmir spokesperson Altaf Thakur called the incident barbaric and cowardly. He urged the police to nab the perpetrators and “punish them sternly”.

He further said, “The attacking and killing of innocent people will lead nowhere. Such acts reflect the frustration of militants.”

He also expressed his sympathies for the grieving families.

Jammu and Kashmir lieutenant-governor Manoj Sinha took to Twitter to condemn the attack.

He tweeted:

Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister and Peoples Democratic Party chief Mehbooba Mufti also tweeted condolences.
