Kerala intelligence wing and Central Agencies suspect that a secret camp was held at Pathanapuram on the Vagamon model

By - Siju Kuriyedam Sreekumar -- Wednesday, June 16, 2021 , 05:00 PM
A secret arms training camp of terrorists was suspected to be held at Pathanapuram Padam village, revealed police and intelligence. The officials raised this suspicion after finding explosives used for making bombs at a cashew farm of forest department in the village.

It is suspected that terrorists organized arms training camp similar to Vagamon secret camp at Thattakudi, a forest range close to the Kollam-Pathanamthitta border on January 21.A few youngsters from Uttar Pradesh who got arrested also revealed to police about attending the training camp. According to the report, people from Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh attended the camp.

It is hinted that the Tamil Nadu Q branch and Kerala intelligence wing reported of terrorists organising a camp here. Officials of both agencies also visited the spot as part of the inquiry before submitting the report. Kerala intelligence wing also carried out an inspection at Thattakudi as per the information from the Tamil Nadu Q branch in March last. But the official didn’t recover any evidence to prove that the terrorists held a secret camp there. After finding explosives, police have decided to carry out a detailed probe into the matter. The police have been examining the phone calls of some people who have links with groups that have an affinity towards terrorism. On Monday, forest officials recovered two gelatin sticks, 4 detonators, batteries, wires and gum from Padam in Kollam. On Tuesday, explosives were also found at Konni forest range. A probe has been initiated to identify the links between the two incidents.
